Solenopsis fugax is a yellow thief ant. It is one of Europe's smallest ant species.
In the wild they raid the nests of other ants to steal stored food and eat their brood.
Description of Queen: 3-4mm Long, Colour: Brown/Black
Description of Workers: 1-2mm Long, Yellow/ Light Brown
Food requirements: Protein (dead insects), Honeydew (Sugar water/honey water)
Humidity: 50% – 80% RH
Temperature: 21 – 28 degrees C
Hibernation Required: Yes. Hibernate between November to February at 15 degrees
Minimum Tube / Connector Diameter: 9mm (MAX)

These ants are not native to the UK and is therefore illegal to release them into the wild. Please contact AntKit if you no longer wish to keep them and we will arrange for them to be collected from you at no cost.
