Messor structor is a dark Brown to Black species of ant (not as large asåÊMessor barbarus). åÊThe large major workers will develop Reddish heads. Messor structor is a harvester ant. åÊThey collect seeds and grains and store them in a granary within the nest. åÊThe larger ants will chew these seeds to make 'ant bread' which is their primary food source. åÊThey also feed off dead insects. åÊThe nest should have both dry and moist areas. åÊMessor structoråÊtend to keep their ant bread in a warm moist area, whilst the seeds and grains are stored in a dry area, åÊThis species of ant can be kept at room temperature, however an additional heat spot is recommended. åÊIn nature the Messor structor can have more than one Queen åÊ(polygyny) per colony. åÊA well established Queen and colony can number into the 1,000's.åÊ
The structor species is considered an easy to care foråÊMessor.

All non-domestic species are shipped via 1st Class Recorded (UK) or International Tracked and Signed (International) to ensure the fastest possible arrival. Ants will be shipped Monday to Wednesday only to prevent ants being delayed over a weekend.åÊ

These ants are not native to the UK and is therefore illegal to release them into the wild. Please contact AntKit if you no longer wish to keep them and we will arrange for them to be collected from you at no cost.
