Camponotus barbaricus colony
Raised from mated queens in the UK by AntKit these Camponotus barbaricus now have their first workers and are now ready to go.
These are one of the largest european ant species.
These carpenter ants grow to have extreme polymorphism and will eventually produce very large marjor workers up to 18mm in size!
The colour variations of Camponotus barbaricus make them an interesting species to keep.

Description of Queen: 18mm Long, Colour: Black with red/dark brown
Description of Workers: 6-18mm Long, Black and Red/Dark Brown
Food requirements: Protein (dead insects), Honeydew (Sugar water/honey water)
Humidity: 50% – 70% RH Nest, 40% - 60% RH Arena
Temperature: 21 – 26 degrees C
Hibernation Required: Yes. MUST be hibernated between beginning of November to beginning of March at 15 degrees.
Minimum Tube / Connector Diameter: 13mm (Large)
Life span of Queen: 20 years +

These ants are not native to the UK and is therefore illegal to release them into the wild. Please contact AntKit if you no longer wish to keep them and we will arrange for them to be collected from you at no cost.
